Mankind has achieved many goals during its existence but hasn’t yet been able to defeat the world’s poverty. The negative aspects of the Globalization, the economic crisis and the conflicts around the world are bringing misery to millions of people.
The global economic downturn has recently created a wider gap between the very rich and the poor. While the rich have become richer, the middle and the working-class have almost disappeared. In western countries, poverty is considered only being the effect of political or economic imbalance.
In other parts of the world, from the middle east to the african continent, people are pushed into poverty, forced to flee from war zones and to start a long and dangerous journey toward other countries. The overpopulation and the scarcity of employment opportunities of many cities have obligated people to live in poverty.
The UN consider the poverty in our cities one of the most worrying issues that needs to be rapidly addressed globally. The streets of the metropolis have always been the mirror of the contradictions of the modern society.
